Agistri - Peaceful and quiet - pure relaxation! Print E-mail
The tiny island in the Saronic Gulf is exactly what you dream of, if you want to spend your time in Greece by relaxing.
Everywhere peace is breathing and the only noise is the splashes from the local fisher boats at the small beaches, and the voice of the few inhabitants (around 1000) when they shout the well known “Ela…” to gather their kids…
What characterize the island are the small beaches with shallow water, the beautiful nature with forests of pine trees and the hospitality you find everywhere.

Next to the small harbour of Scala, you find one of the best beaches with crystal clear and shallow waters, perfect for children. At the very end of the beach, you will see the white church of Agia Anargiri with its beautiful icons and in the small streets a bit further up the road, you find the local bakery selling the famous “spinakopita” (spinach pie). In the same place a delicious chocolate ice cream is sold in the evenings. In the hot summer month, there is often a small queue here. You will also see the Greeks bringing their roast and vegetables to the bakery. Simply because it is too hot to heat up their own oven…

From Agistri you can visit the neighbour island Aegina, known for some of the best pistachios in the world. The duration of the trip is only 20 minutes, and if you don’t want to wait for the small ferry, you can easily hire a local taxi boat to bring you forth and back at a small amount.

Due to the very limited traffic, the island is perfect for long walks.

We hope you will enjoy Agistri just as much as us!
